John Jonethis studied cello at Kent State University but is accomplished on many instruments including piano, (which he plays on this record) flute, bass, banjo. While studying at Kent State he was selected guitarist for Kent State’s Jazz Ensemble that was invited to perform at the International Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.

Ironically, several of Nashville’s major producers have lauded Jonethis’s voice as “world class”, an uncommon commodity in the cacophonous world of modern pop/rock. He previously recorded two albums: Lounge Freak (with a video nominated for Dove Awards in ’98) which covered hit contemporary Christiansongs by Jars of Clay and others, plus a Christmas CD which included one of his originals. Another Jonethis original, Moment I Lost You can be heard on the latest B.J. Thomas album, You Call That A Mountain.

From smoky piano bars, to a royal performance for Princess Michael of Kent, to the excusive clubs and enclaves of high society and the private homes and gardens of the rich, John Jonethis has won a devoted cadre of fans who long to be able to take his music home with them. With the release of Tonight...At The Piano Bar, that void has fially been filled, with studio performances that capture the aura and emotional impact that has fueled his popularity wherever he performs.

Whether it’s his magical rendition of Beautiful Maria, his enigmatic Smile, or one of his own revealing compositions Couldn’t Care Less and the Paris inspired Les Plus Beau Moments, John Jonethis sings and plays with an intimacy and emotional intensity that is captivating, sophisticated and uniquely distinct.

If you’ve heard John Jonethis live you’re already a fan. If you haven’t heard John Jonethis, you’re in for a musical treat that’s as delectable as a gourmet feast and as memorable as your sweetest dreams.

“We entered the piano bar that night thinking a little background music, a glass of wine, and conversation with friends was just the ticket to wrap up a nice evening on the town. The wine was excellent but the voice, songwriting and musicianship of singer/songwriter John Jonethis was the serendipitous discovery of a rare vintage crooner, whose mesmerizing vocals are on a par with icons Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. As he began his set, my friends and I listened in rapt silence as John Jonethis breathed new life into classic and contemporary romantic standards interspersed with his superlative originals. We were instant fans.”
